Friday morning

No major idiocy on the roads to report today. 35 minutes on the bike this morning, traffic fairly light and freeflowing (at least up to Robertson Bl.)

Looks like the city is finally going to repair the Pothole of Death in the westbound number two on Olympic, between La Jolla and La Cienega. They have the section marked off in white paint, demarcating chunks of all three westbound lanes. I hope they do a better job fixing it this time.

Meanwhile, I checked out Amy Alkon's blog this morning, as I do every morning. Pretty much every day she finds something politically or socially meaningful to post. Go check out today's entry about the riots raging for the last week in the suburbs of Paris. The letter she reproduces from a friend of hers living there is especially bleak, but realistic too. "With these people, there is no talk possible, no common grounds, only escalation of the hatred & killing of the Infidel. It is going to be a bloody war of religion. And yes, it is going to be WWIII."
